Why memory foam mattress topper?
Memory foam comes with 2 options; you can either choose a full mattress or a topper which is a foam layer usually from 1 to 5 inches thick that you can place on top of your existing mattress. A full mattress is always a better way to go since the whole package is built and designed to work well together. Memory foam only provides its special comfort when it is well support at the bottom and does all the giving from the top.
The only problem with full mattress is that they are not cheap. To solve that problem, memory foam mattress topper comes to the rescue.
A topper will work just find and give same benefits as a full memory foam mattress as long as your existing mattress is not a worn out one to fully supporting it. If your existing mattress is more than 5 years old, you may want to consider for a full mattress otherwise; the topper would be sinking and that would defeat the way it is designed to work.
A topper is cheaper however; you are still expected to spend a few hundred dollars for it. If you think it is still expensive, consider how much time a person spends in bed. That’s right, it’s about a third of our life. That doesn’t seem like so much money, does it?
So, what topper’s thickness would be right?
Toppers come in a few thicknesses ranging from 1 to 5 inches or even more. In my opinion, a 2 or 3 inches thick would do the job. However, what important here is the density. The higher the density the more expensive it is and the more support and better it is. However, it is not necessary to pay premium for the density. A 3-5lbs density and a minimum of 2-3 thick of lower density would do the job just find.
Remember, a memory foam mattress topper is still much better than no topper at all. You can try shopping online for a better deal. In some cases, you can spend less and get a great topper that you’ll be happy with for years to come.
